Collaborating with some internationally recognized academic agencies, the Academy initiated over six years ago an innovative educational programme that focused on universal human values in the context of the challenges being faced by the youth today. It also addressed the need for a holistic approach to education for development, a worthy objective that has been well received by a good number of reputed universities and higher academic and training institution. … Our education counsellors and faculty members who have participated in this programme have found its modules to be secular in nature, broad in their outlook and universal in their content; they empower the participants to find a meaningful purpose for their personal lives, develop the hidden gems within them, clarify their basic concepts – values and attitudes, acquire necessary skills and prepare themselves to become change agents through active service to the society around them. Most importantly it has developed humankind as whole. Such empowerment takes place not only though the content of the courses the Academy offers but also through the cooperative and experiential leaning methodologies that are used extensively during the sessions. It is an action-oriented programme. The feedback received from the participants under six universities indicate that they have found the programme to be interesting and practical; indeed a new morn has dawned in their education progress and in developing their capabilities.
