2ND NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES”

HELD IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE DEPTT. OF EDUCATION & EXTENSION,

SAVITRIBAI PHULE PUNE UNIVERSITY, PUNE

Sat. 30th and Sun. 31st May-2015

 

The Conference was inaugurated at the hands of Prof. Dr. M. M. Salunkhe, The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik, Maharashtra. The Valedictory Function was held in the Presence of Prin. Dr. A. S. Bhoite, The Hon'ble Ag. Vice-Chancellor of Shivaji University. During a special session on UNESCO's Bioethics programme, Prof. Dr. Arun Jamkar, The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of MUHS and the Parton of UNESCO's Bioethics National Nodal Centre, Prof. Dr. Shekhar Rajderkar, the Hon'ble Pro Vice-Chancellor and the National Head UNESCO's Bioethics Programme, and Prof. Dr. Russell D'Souza, Asia Pacific Head and Chair of UNESCO's Bioethics Programme addressed the Conference participants.  A galaxy of distinguished personalities delivered keynote addresses at various sessions. Participants represented fourteen institutions of higher learning from Maharashtra, M.P. and Karnatake.

Papers that were presented are published in the Conference Souvenir with ISSN Number.

The Main Theme of the 2nd National Conference:  “Universal Human Values”

The Sub-themes:

a)    ‘The Need for Education In Universal Human Values From Environmental Perspective’

Examples of some topics:

-       A critical study of environmental challenges from the perspective of universal human values

-       Implementation of environmental regimes in the context of universal human values

-       A critical analysis of whether environmental sustainability is possible in the present moral scenario

b)   ‘The Need for Education In Universal Human Values From Scientific And Technological Perspectives’

Examples of some topics:

-       Media and moral issues of the youth (Three month analysis of some media such as TV, b. Newspaper, c. Social Media

-       Mobile phones and moral issues facing the youth

-       Use of media and mobile phones for promoting universal human values

-       A critical analysis of the trends in scientific and technological developments from the perspective of universal human values

c)    ‘The Need For Education In Universal Human Values From Economical  Perspective’

Examples of some topics:

-       Recession and universal human values

-       Poverty eradication and universal human values

-       Taxation and universal human values

-       Need for economic reforms from the stand point of universal human values

d)   ‘The Need For Education In Universal Human Values From Social And Political Perspectives’

Examples of some topics:

-       A Study of the impacts of Happy Hippo Show on social progress through Service Learning Activities

-       Moral challenges faced by the students in colleges and universities

-        SWOT analysis of professional colleges in the context of implementing Education in Universal      

         Human Values

-       Where will the present socio-political practices lead us to? Learning from the history!

e)    ‘Approaches and Policies Pertaining to Value Education’

Examples of some topics:

-       Analysis of educational policies with respect to promoting value education in institutions of higher learning

-       Investigating the impact of Education in Universal Human Values on the students: one year after their graduation   

        from the Programme

-       A comparative study of various approaches to value education

 f)     ‘Value Based Teaching Learning Methodologies’

Examples of some topics:

-       Feasibility and impact of using Cooperative Learning in higher education

-       Feasibility and impact of using Experiential Learning in higher education

-       Content-cum-methodology for imparting value education 

 g)    ‘The Need for Education in Universal Human Values from Medical Perspective: UNESCO's Bioethics   

        Programme’
